FAQ

Thinking of submitting to Hyde?

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions to help you out:

  • What should I write about?

When we announce a new issue we always provide a list of suggested topics or themes we want to see in our magazine. However, you can write about anything as long as you’re passionate about it.

  • I have an idea for a submission but I don’t know what to do with it. Can you help?

Hyde magazine is happy to receive ideas or ‘pitches’ from individuals wishing to submit their work. Our editors will collaborate with you to ensure that your work is strong and says what you want it to.

  • How do I submit an article to Hyde?

You can send either a pitch or an entire article to our email: hydemagazine@gmail.com

  • What type of work does Hyde accept?

We accept written pieces that include: journalistic pieces, creative non-fiction narrative, memoir, personal essays, feature articles, reviews, opinion pieces, travel pieces, poetry and short stories.

We also accept photo essays and are always looking for emerging artists and photographers to feature in our magazine.

  • How long should a written piece be?

The length of written submissions depends on the type of submission it is. For example, a general article, feature piece or opinion piece would be between 500 – 800 words. Short stories may go up to 1500 words and poems are allocated 100 lines.

  • When should I submit my work to Hyde?

At the start of every issue we send a call-out which includes our deadline for submissions. Email us if you’d like to subscribe to our mailing list. However, we encourage our writers to send their work in as early as possible to help with the editing process to make their pieces and our magazine as great as possible.
