Hyde magazine is looking for people to join our 2019 team. It is a chance for those pursuing a career in the publishing and design industry to gain experience. Industry experience is not essential, but it is important that you are familiar with Hyde magazine. This can be achieved by reading previous issues or our online articles.

Editor in Chief

  • Oversee the production of the magazine.
  • Proofread and edit contributor submissions.
  • Plan content for upcoming issues.
  • Develop marketing tactics to increase awareness of Hyde on campus.
  • Seek relationships with other departments and members of Victoria University organisations and staff.



  • Proofread and edit contributor submissions.
  • Contribute ideas for upcoming issue.
  • Maintain internal database.
  • Campaign to expand the number of contributors in the database.



  • Design magazine ready for print packaging.
  • Select feature artist for each issue.
  • Produce graphics, illustrations and photography when necessary.


Social Media and Distribution Manager

  • Create weekly content for social media.
  • Respond to social media inquiries.
  • Promote the magazine online.
  • Distribute magazine across campuses and other relevant places (recommended that you have a car or access to a car)


The ideal candidate has the following qualities:

  • Initiative: the magazine is run by students who step into their roles with an idea of what they want to do, or what can be improved.
  • Teamwork: to working cooperatively with other team members is essential.
  • Consistency: a small team needs people who are willing to work throughout the year.
  • Time management: students should be able to organise their time to complete the work while attending to their other responsibilities.
